Horrible Histories

I love Horrible Histories. It’s one of my favourite TV shows. I know its a kids show. But I love it.

It has great music, and some brilliant songs. I always learn something new, different parts of history I never learnt at school. It has some excellent sections, and brilliant jokes. It has some beautiful sets, and some wonderful actors, who bring energy to characters, laughter to scenes and bring the history to life. You can tell they’re all having the times of their lives, and their joy and enthusiasm shines through.

It’s about history. But its also about people. And the people from history feel real. The historical figures are there, but also the ordinary people too. They have lives and jobs and struggles, just as we do, making them more relatable. Even the ancient peoples seem closer, with their humour and personalities.

It’s a show that I always go back to. It makes me smile, and comforts me. It cheers me up, when I’m struggling. Its got me through hard times. And been there for me in the good times. I’ve seen it dozens of times, and have the DVDs, and love it every time.

Its even good for writing too, when on in the background, something I can enjoy without having to concentrate too hard on, and is great after a busy day at work.

Maybe it is for children. But I still love it.
