World Mental Health Day

Today is World Mental Health Day, and its a good day.

I slept really well, with a new bedtime routine I’ve started which has been helping. I had a great weekend, practicing music for the new term of wind band, relaxing in nature for lunch with my boyfriend, and doing some writing too. I feel refreshed and recharged, ready to start a busy week. I’m looking forward to World Sight Day and a big staff event on Thursday to celebrate this, which I know will be good fun. My weekly quiz social with some friends is back on, on Wednesday, which I’m excited about, and even Moorfields last week didn’t go too badly. I’m getting some more writing published and have been working with an editor to really hone a piece, which has put me in a great mood.

Today, its a perfect autumn day, crisp but sunny, and I went for a nice early dog walk. It was lovely to immerse myself in nature, and I enjoyed hearing the crunch of leaves underfoot and seeing the shift from green to red as Nature begins to repaint her canvas. I’ve got some big projects to do at work, which I know will keep my mind occupied, and some new tricks for focusing and concentration involving an origami penguin. I have a cup of coffee, and some biscuits, and am approaching tasks with curiosity even if they are routine, and reminding myself of the value these small tasks bring to the charity.

I guess I’m writing this because I often write about the bad days on here. But sometimes, its good to think about the better ones too. And I will celebrate World Mental Health Day with some Headspace, and a coffee, and maybe some writing later.
